Encouraging confident leadership to unlock business potential. That’s what the Commercial Excellence programme is all about. It’s specifically designed for well-established strategic operators with clear ambitions and plans to move into new markets.  

Working one-to-one with an experienced executive coach, you’ll deliver a bespoke commercial project to gain competitive advantage and realise true business growth.

Programme Overview

First, you’ll be given a next-level understanding of influencing using the category management process. Secondly, you’ll understand the role of market intelligence as the foundation for successful innovation. Then, you will access world-class negotiation training to bolster your confidence while gaining an in-depth appreciation of the needs of your business audience.

 

 

Finally, guided by your executive coach, you will work on a defined project of strategic commercial importance to your business throughout the course, arming you with the skills needed to take the necessary steps to achieve your business goals. (breakdown of modules as seen in gather content)

Modules

Module 1: Market Intelligence & Category Management

  • The true meaning of Category Management at an advanced level
  • Category management as a continuous cycle of learn, act, and react
  • The role of market intelligence and category management as the foundations for successful innovation
  • How to identify consumer needs

Module 2: Negotiating

  • Why we negotiate, focusing on principles & planning
  • Negotiating strategy: navigating the negotiation from the opening position to agreement
  • Grocer Supply Code of Practice and its importance
  • Practicing in person with experts

Module 3: Commercial

  • The importance of telling the right story to multiple audiences
  • Understanding the overall point of 360-degree business planning and strategy, and its language
  • Understanding different personality types and how to communicate to them
  • Utilising the right language to achieve successful outcomes, internally and externally to get to the heart of solving category challenges

Module 4: Commercial Sales and Marketing

2 half-day workshops covering:

  • Understanding the commercial role
  • Business strategy
  • Commercial & operations strategy
  • Sales planning
  • Understanding and talking to buyers
