Glasgow Distillery whisky has the winning formula

A whisky honouring the heritage of single malt distilling in Glasgow - produced by The Glasgow Distillery Co. - has been recognised with a Gold medal from the International Spirits Challenge.

This global win is the 5th win in the last 6 months celebrated by Glasgow 1770 The Original Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the inaugural expression in the Glasgow 1770 range.

This expression has also been awarded the highest merit of Master at the Spirits Business Scotch Whisky Masters. Other wins include scoring 95/100 at the IWSC, gaining a Double Platinum Medal and being named Best In Class at the USA-based ASCOT Awards, and winning a Gold Medal at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Opening its doors in 2012, The Glasgow Distillery Co. was the first single malt whisky distillery in Glasgow for over a century and its signature Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky forms part of its wider portfolio of spirits which reflect and pay tribute to Glasgow’s rich heritage.

The distillery also focuses on unique experimentation with whiskies through its innovative Small Batch Series range. Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Golden Beer Cask Finish, also won Gold at the IWSC. The latest edition, a Red Wine and Ruby Port Cask Finish has proved incredibly successful, winning a Gold medal at the Spirits Business Scotch Whisky Masters.

Glasgow 1770 The Original was first released in 2018, as one-third of Glasgow Distillery’s Signature Range, alongside Peated and Triple Distilled expressions. The whisky is double distilled using unpeated barley before maturation in first fill ex-bourbon casks and a finish in virgin American white oak.

Bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration and at natural colour, The Original is a true demonstration of fruity spirit production combined with active cask maturation and is fast gaining a very favourable, well deserved reputation amongst whisky fans.
