A great sum of over £34,000 has been raised by teams taking part in RSABI’s Great Glen Challenge 2022, sponsored by United Auctions.
Seventeen teams battled it out in the multi-sport event on Friday 26 August which saw competitors take part in stages between Fort Augustus and Fort William, completing 46km mountain biking, 18km walking, 17km running and 6km kayaking.
Newcomers Team Shannoch took home the trophy on the day, but it is Agrovista’s Team #ForOurGrowers who have come top of the fundraising leader board having raised a fantastic sum of £5,730 including gift aid.
Neil Fettes, Agrovista Team Captain said: “On behalf of Agrovista’s team #ForOurGrowers, we had a really super day at the challenge. Our team put in a great effort. Although we didn’t make the top three it was a very enjoyable event that we were proud to be part of.
“A particular highlight was seeing the youngest member of the team, William Fettes, come in second place in the run which was his first-ever running race! A huge thanks to all of our sponsors, we are amazed at their level of generosity, having achieved a total of £5,730!”
Carol McLaren, RSABI Chief Executive, said: “We’re very grateful to all our teams for their amazing fundraising efforts which has helped us to raise over £34,000 to support people in Scottish agriculture. Many thanks go to all who took part and everyone who sponsored our teams – your generosity is very much appreciated by all at RSABI.
“Huge thanks go to our supporters and partners Agrovista who went the extra mile with their fundraising, raising over £5,700. Congratulations also go to William Fettes on his second place in the running – what a great performance for his first-ever running race.
